Africa Outreach

Africa Outreach 2014
Ages: 18 & up
(exact dates to be announced)
Departure City: Los Angeles, CA
Estimated cost: $4000

Africa Outreach is a yearly evangelistic summer mission to Malawi led by Pastor Kurt Dahlin. We partner with the vision of the National Foursquare Leadership to strengthen, encourage and grow the rural churches. Visiting sites where fresh water wells have recently been drilled, we utilize creative arts and the Jesus film to make the love of Jesus known to as many as possible. Last year our teams were able to minister in 13 villages to over 7,000 people. In 2014 we want to spend a week doing a Vacation Bible School for tons of kids that live near the Blantyre Foursquare Church. We will also minister to women, children, and host first aid and Homemade Hygiene clinics featuring the use of local resources to prevent and treat deadly diarrhea.

Friends,

We are just finishing up a very productive mission to Malawi, Africa. Thank you for your prayers and support. We were able to reach over 6,000 people with the gospel. I also visited so many water wells
WWFA has installed over the past 16 years. I was so happy to find them all working and to discover that the clean water has completely eliminated cholera and water borne diseases. I was able to finally visit the first borehole installed in Nchiwa Village 16 years ago. I was overjoyed to find it still providing clean water after so much time.

Praise God!

- Pastor Kurt Dahlin

OUR HISTORY
In 1991, Pastor Kurt Dahlin began to lead annual outreach teams to the  Republic of South Africa. In 1994, Dahlin went to MalawiAfrica and discovered a great love for the people and culture. By 1996 Pastor Kurt began training and sending short-term teams to serve alongside Pastor Bob Brack (the Foursquare missionary in Malawi at the time). During this time Pastor Kurt also developed the Water Wells For Africa project and local partnerships that have become the current WWFA organization (www.waterwellsforafrica.org).

Today, the Breakwater church still partners directly with the Malawian National Foursquare Church in Blantyre. Teams from the Breakwater, along with surrounding South Bay churches and Christian colleges and universities continue to minister in rural Malawian villages every summer.

The congregants of the Blantyre Foursquare Church have become crucial ministry partners and great friends. Pastor Kurt has re-named the teams’ fearless interpreters, "The Lions of Blantyre" for their ceaseless passion in prayer, preaching, and pursuit of the lost. Together with the "Lions" and local pastors, Breakwater's Africa Outreach Teams share the Jesus film, conduct church services and provide much need medical education and first aid. Ultimately, all of these efforts center on showing the true, life-giving, love of Christ and encouraging the rural   church of MalawiCentral Africa.
